Our First Visit

On December 21, 2007 we met our baby boy, Paulo David Mario, for the very first time. We both knew that he was the one within minutes of seeing him. The next day we signed our Power of Attorney which technically had to be filed prior to December 31st in order for the adoption to proceed because of the new Guatemalan Adoption Law. Essentially, we were "grandfathered." We spent the entire day with him and he was allowed to spend the night with us before we flew out the next day.

Paulo was able to crawl, sit up, and roll over. He was teething so he chewed on everything. He smiled and laughed even though we could tell he didn't feel well as he had the stomach flu.
